Scottie affectionately refers to himself as a Mainlander from Tokyo. Having grown up on a 2000 hectare sheep and cattle farm in the Waitaki Valley of the South Island of New Zealand, he secured a business degree at Otago University and then spent the next 13 years cultivating a career in Asia, based in Japan. Fluent in Japanese, Scottie held senior management positions in Zespri Japan, Exel Japan and Heinz Watties Japan.
